Where's Yasmin Now? A Brit girl working on visiting all corners of the globe

PARIS

First stop: Paris, France

Paris is a place both myself and Ben have visited before therefore we felt a 2 night stay was sufficient for what we wanted to explore.

Side note: Throughout our 6 week interrail journey we either stay in our destination for 2 or 3 nights. This way we were able to fit in 17 locations.

Our first day in Paris proved to be a busy one due to a French Bank Holiday. Therefore, we decided to jump on an empty open top bus, enjoy the views and the sunshine. Tourists at their best.

This was the first time I saw the Louvre and as an art fanatic, this was a major tick in the box. Plus, I think the experience is always well received when you’re then driven down a cobble-laid street adorned by green sprung trees on either sides. All of which, begin to hang over the street creating a ‘nature-ceiling’.

This is one thing I love about Paris, the trees. Yes, sounds simple, but there is something about walking down a street which is filled either side with green life. I can imagine it’s not as picturesque in the winter with bare branches but, I’m living for this naturist moment.

Back to my pretty street – Looking into the distance, the horizon is complete with the sight of the Arc de Triomphe, the cherry on top of the tree, if you will. There is something about seeing a national monument for the first time, wherever you are in the world. These sights, along with seeing the top of the Eiffel Tower peep above buildings in the distance and walking into the square of Notre-Dame is one which fills any wanderlust junkie with excitement and almost accomplishment that you are there, living it.

On our second day we were able to go up the Eiffel Tower and it’s at the moment you get to see all the ground you’ve covered but just walking around or as I like to describe it, ‘bowling about’. I would recommend climbing the Eiffel Tower towards the end of a trip so you can see what places you haven’t been able to reach so that you can complete the city.

Currently, on the way to Bruges for the next leg of our tour, another two-nighter as I have heard it is a particularly small city however I am looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about

Peace and love
