Sixth stop: Prague, Czech Republic / 3 nights

Three words to sum up Prague? Cheap, cheap and cheap! This is music to a backpackers ears!

Prague is our first stop where the currency is not euros, it is Koruna. To give you some perspective, I withdrew €220 and that gave me 5,000 Koruna. This lasted me the whole 3 nights here in Prague without trying to make my money last. It’s going to be a big shock to the purse going back into a Euro country!

Prague is such a pretty city especially by the River Vltava. This is their main river which runs through the city. Towering either side of the river banks are terrace buildings which look perfectly positioned like out of a painting. Creating the most perfect pastel coloured rainbow it sets a wonderful scene.

There are small islands on the river all of which hold mini parks where locals have taken picnics to make the most of the hot weather we had! It’s on these islands you can hire pedalos on the river which would be my highest recommendation in the summer! It is €10 or 250 Koruna to hire the pedalo for an hour which is very reasonable. This was the perfect activity for the amazing weather we had as it just ended up as a sunbathing tool.

I was very excited to visit the John Lennon Wall as I had seen a lot of art online of it however it was a shame to see that a lot of the original art had been covered by other graffiti. Although it was definitely a tick whilst in Prague maybe don’t go with the high hopes I had especially after visiting the Berlin Wall.

Another tip for the city would be their underground system. Although it’s great to get by on foot it’s sometimes nice to treat yourself to an easier way back home/hotel (it’s funny how once you’re on holiday you call the hotel home) An underground ticket cost us less than a euro each to get from the city to the hotel which would have been a 30 minute walk. An unquestionable choice!

Currently on the train from Prague to our next stop, Vienna! About 3 hours in to the 4 hour leg so not long to go now. Crazy to think we are only 2 weeks into our adventure and have seen so much already.

Peace and love,

Yasmin x
